Arrivals: Michael Green
Michael was adopted at the age of four by a Jamaican lady and her British husband. His adopted father was working in Jamaica for the Marconi company. In September 1973, when he was 11 years old, his adopted parents moved to England, returning to his adopted father’s home country.
Initially they stayed in Hounslow before moving north to Newcastle upon Tyne where they stayed with his father’s family whilst settling in to the country. In the search for work it wasn’t long before the family returned to the South again to live in Windsor.
Michael attended Charters Secondary School in Sunningdale, Berkshire. Although he arrived too late to take the 11 plus exams he successfully progressed through his school years. After leaving school he joined the RAF to study and work as an aircraft engineer.
After six years’ service with the RAF Michael left and underwent a career change. He worked in Information Technology recruitment and acquired the necessary skills that allowed him to move on and take up new roles in the recruitment industry, in particular human resource consultancy sales. With his expertise in professional recruitment Michael started his own business in Information Technology and human resource sales. After his family relocated back to Jamaica, Michael moved to Doncaster in July 2003 with his wife, Noreen, and two children. Noreen is from Doncaster. Today, he is still working in professional services, as a freelance HR and IT Sales Consultant.
