Workshop One
Let’s Dig – The Stone Age

Length: 1.5 – 2 hours
Key Stage: KS2
Location: Danum Gallery Library and Museum
Synopsis
Learn about the Stone Age through archaeology. Find out more about the techniques of an archaeological investigation, how & why an archaeologist chooses an excavation site and how this helps us to understand life in the past. During this session pupils will take part in an archaeological tray study and handle genuine and replica artefacts. They will take part in a coprolite study to find out more about the Stone Age diet.
Workshop Two
Let’s Write – How to Care for your Stone Age Pet
Subject: History & Science
Length: 1.5 – 2 hours
Key Stage: KS1 & KS2
Location: Danum Gallery Library and Museum
Synopsis
During this session we will read the book ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’ as a class. Pupils will then get involved in some role play and write instructions on how to take care of a Stone Age pet.
