Creative Digital Commission – Pre-Commission Engagement
City of Doncaster Council is inviting artists and creative practitioners to share early insight to help shape a future permanent public artwork at Gateway One, a new public space at the entrance to Doncaster city centre. You can view the landscape plan in the PDF linked below.
This short engagement will help us refine the brief, understand feasibility, and identify creative directions before the full commission (approx. £20,000) expected to be advertised in June 2026, for the appointed artist to commence work in September. Please note, any digital infrastructure such as power and data will be costed separately to this project.
What we’re looking for:
We welcome insight and responses on –
- Themes and artistic approaches suitable for the site
- Ways to interpret its heritage and emerging digital/AI themes
- Practical considerations around materials, production, and maintenance
- Thoughts on the most supportive commissioning process
No proposals are required at this stage – an open call will follow in June.
